Kat Stacks Talks Smack
Kat Stacks, the Venezuelan vixen who proudly flaunts her trademark bangs, breast implants and butt injections, exposed the sexual secrets and drug habits of rappers like Soulja Boy, Bow Wow, Nelly and the whole Young Money Crew in a series of viral Internet videos. In a Fran Drescher-esque voice, she describes her sexual escapades in great detail, giving out the cell phone numbers and the dollar amounts she was paid by her alleged clients. Regardless of the fact that she shows her vagina in a WorldStar.com video to dispel rumors that she has herpes, Andrea Herrera, a.k.a. Kat Stacks, has the biggest balls in the rap scene today.
In a recent interview on Vibe.com, Stacks explained how she gets men to sleep with her and revealed a surprise: she will now be focusing her attention towards helping young girls. “I try to give them the best advance of life. To stay in school and not go down the road I went to. I explain to them what happens when you try to be like Kat Stacks,” she said. However, she turns around and gives these same girls advice about performing fellatio on her Twitter account.Kat Stacks has been compared to fellow sex snitch and author Karrine “Superhead” Steffans. Steffans is famous for writing “Confessions of a Video Vixen,” a memoir that exposed her sexual exploits with NBA basketball player Shaquille O’Neal, former boy band member Bobby Brown and singer Ray J. The book sold over 350,000 copies and made way for her follow up book, “The Vixen Diaries.” Stacks was also influenced by Steffans. “She inspired me to speak out and made me stronger about my past. I felt she got out of it, but maybe I can get out of it too,” Stacks said. Are these really the types of role models that young girls should look up to?
By giving these women a platform we’re essentially teaching young girls that sleeping with men in the entertainment industry for money and bragging about it is an acceptable way to get famous. When did pursuing prostitution as a career become admirable? Perhaps it was around the same time we became desensitized to extreme sexual behavior with the original wave of “celebrity” sex tapes — namely Paris Hilton’s and Kim Kardashian’s.
On the other hand, Stacks’ actions could be classified as what Judith Halberstam, professor of American and English studies and ethnicity and gender studies at University of Southern California, coined as “Lady Gaga” feminism. This new branch of feminism applies when women own their behavior and sexuality and use it to their benefit, rather than letting men exploit them. Stacks started her video rants after Young Money rapper Lil Twist threw her out of his house and left her stranded. She wanted to expose the atrocious behavior of these rappers, yet somehow these rappers received less judgment than she did. Stacks has been both verbally and physically attacked because of her online confessions. The double standards that exist in the entertainment industry are infuriating. While I can’t agree with Stacks entirely, the reactions of some of these rappers are inexcusable and only provoke her further.
Despite my inclination to judge her harshly I, along with most other girls, have suffered from low self esteem and can only imagine the inner demons she deals with daily after being forced into prostitution at the age of 14. It’s clear that Kat Stacks not only needs a decade’s worth of therapy to deal with her emotional issues, but also a real friend who will tell her that using her body for empowerment is one thing. Opting to be known as the world’s most ridiculous whore is another.
