On April 8th, Amnesty International’s annual event “Get On The Bus.”
Hundreds of students and activists met via public transportation to protest in front of places they believe violate human rights, including embassies, consulates, and corporations.
The activists targeted specific nations for their human rights violations. Attention was brought to Chad for their use of child soldiers, and to Indonesia for their "prisoners of conscience," such as activist Filep Karma, who was arrested in December 2004 during a celebration of Papuan independence. He was sentenced to fifteen years in prison.
This was the 16th year of Amnesty International's event to promote human rights education and activism.
