About Us
The New School Free Press is the New School's 12-page, bi-weekly student-run newspaper. It is published with the support of The New School and the Writing Department of Eugene Lang College, and is a credit-based class. The Free Press covers all of the New School's divisions, Greenwich Village, New York City, and the world. Presenting local and global news from a student perspective, the Free Press isn't restrained by its roots in the New School community. It covers that niche better and more extensively than any other news source, while also using it as a jumping-off point from which to explore issues important to young people and students everywhere.
The Free Press began as a much smaller paper. Every year we push ourselves to grow even bigger. On the most basic level the website is a way to get the content of the newspaper to a larger readership, but in the same spirit of growth that has made the Free Press what it is today, the website will continue to explore the possibilities of web media.
Rights of the Interviewee
Reporters are responsible for accurately and appropriately reporting what an interview subject says to them. Interview subjects have the right to ask reporters to use a tape recorder to ensure accurate quotes. However, this must be requested at the time the interview is arranged.
The New School Free Press does not, under any circumstances, permit reporters to send quotes or article drafts to interview subjects before an article is printed or posted on the website.
